Bridge Week Holiday Camps

This summer, we look forward to again exploring art and science within our Brooklyn community. This will involve many hands on sensory explorations inside and out. We will be going to Slope Park, JJ Byrne and other water splash pads daily, so come with your bathing suit in tow. We will also be taking frequent walking trips in the Brooklyn community that inspire our art and science explorations!

Camp Groups
We have a camp that caters to children who are 2 to 1o years of age. We divide into cohorts of four camp groups by age. Our groups are Bambini, Piccolo, Medio and Grande – youngest to oldest. Once you enroll, your child is placed into a camp group that is tailored accordingly to your child’s needs with age-appropriate activities and excursions. Below, please find general descriptions of what how each day may look like. Please note that these descriptions are examples and are subject to change based on age-group enrollment.

  • Bambini  – This group starts off inside with a consistent morning routine and then heads out to the playground or splash pad around 10am to enjoy the sprinklers. Snack is often enjoyed outdoors in the shade or before heading outdoors. On Wednesdays, this group will do a local walking trip to see the sights of the neighborhood, staying closer to home visiting places like the 6/15 Community Garden, the local pizzeria, the local fire station and possibly Greenwood Koi Pond. Bambini will have an outdoor sensory art, explorative science, and Sports & Games specials weekly. You can find a sample schedule here.
  • Piccolo – This group starts with a brief meeting and then heads right out at 9am to the playground or splash pad to enjoy the sprinklers! Snack is enjoyed outdoors in the shade while the children dry off from their sprinkler adventures. On Wednesdays, this group will do a local walking trip and possibly progress to a few close subway/bus travel trips to see the sights of the neighborhood – venturing places such as the local fire station, Baked in Brooklyn, JJ Byrne playground, and Puppetworks. Some travel trips may include the Prospect Park Zoo or the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The Piccolo group will have sensory art and exploratory science specials weekly as well as Sports & Games! You can find a sample schedule here.
  • Medio  – This group starts with a brief meeting and then heads right out to the playground or splash pad to enjoy the sprinklers. Snack is enjoyed outdoors in the shade while the children dry off from their sprinkler adventures. On Wednesdays, this group will alternate by either taking a local walking trip to see the sights of the neighborhood – venturing places such as the local fire station, Baked in Brooklyn, JJ Byrne playground, and Puppetworks or by going on a bus or subway trip to places such as the New York Transit Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park Zoo and the Brooklyn Bridge. They will have art and science specials weekly as well as Sports & Games on Fridays in Prospect Park. This age group will also go swimming on Thursdays at Sunset Park Pool. You can find a sample schedule here.
  • Grande – This group starts with a brief meeting and then heads right out, leaving promptly at 9am. The Grande group will do weekly and bi-weekly ventures to Prospect Park, Sunset Park Pool and a subway/bus trip all around the city. Snack and lunch is often enjoyed outdoors in the shade after or before a city exploration! On Wednesdays, this group will go on a bus or subway trip to places such as the Natural History Museum, Governor’s Island, the Intrepid, New York Transit Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park Zoo or the Brooklyn Bridge.
